Those who remember my waffling about builders may be interested in the latest developments. After many repairs we have finally had the toilet replaced. The original builders had put in the wrong style of toilet and flushing caused a vaccuum in the waste pipe, which weakened the join and eventually cracked it, which is why we got flooded every six to eight weeks. The plumber who came to look at the problem solved it in seconds and seemed very intelligent. That’s no real surprise, however, as it turned out we are related! I hadn’t seen him for ages, but he knew me straight away. Brains obviously run in our family. 😉
The second repair story is the weird one. For months my tv has been playing up, going very bright on its own, to the point where the set would pass tolerance levels and switch itself off. Last week, I took the tv into the repair shop but the fault has not shown up, despite being constant here for at least six months. They suspect that the tube is dying, but as they can’t get the fault to show I have to go and bring it back here later, with no repair necessary. Typical of the way these things go, but at least I will get more life from the tv without having to dump it. I hope.
